The pairing of peanut butter and jelly for a sandwich is the ultimate flavor combination. While the simplest version will always be classic, it’s sometimes fun to play with textures and flavors. That’s why, for our elevated PB&J we started with rustic whole grain bread. After adding a healthy smear of our creamy peanut butter, we added grape jelly and slices of super juicy and ultra-sweet purple grapes. The finishing touch? A tiny dusting of toasted coconut!

Here’s Why They’re Great (and Tips)
- Choose your favorite bread. One easy way to elevate your PB&J is by choosing delicious bread. I love whole grain for texture and flavor, but other varieties work well too. Try challah or sourdough for example, or whatever looks good at your local bakery!
- Mix up the fruit. I like to match the fruit I put in my sandwich with the jam or jelly I’m using. Obviously experimenting is fun too, so lean into familiar combinations that could be fun like banana and strawberry jam or raspberries and blackberry jam.
- Add some crunch. I love a little texture on my PB&J, which is why I’ll keep peanuts and other chopped nuts handy. Toasted coconut, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds are also fun, crunchy options.
Ingredients
-
1 to 2 tablespoons creamy Once Again Peanut butter
- 2 slices whole grain bread
- 1 tablespoon grape jelly
- 5 purple grapes, sliced
- 1 teaspoon toasted coconut
Directions
Spread peanut butter over bread slices. Add dollops of grape jelly followed by sliced grapes. Sprinkle toasted coconut. Enjoy open-faced or combine the slices to make a sandwich.
