The beginning
Once Again Nut Butter was founded by Jeremy Thaler, Constance Potter and Christine Bastfield as a worker cooperative. Connie and Jeremy created the name because they were once again creating a worker co-op (they also had a cat named Once Again!). Jeremy began making old-fashioned, skin-on-the-peanuts style peanut butter out of their basement using a coffee roaster passed down to him.

Organic Peanut Butter Pioneers
Once Again produced the first organic peanut butter in the United States by developing growing standards for field crops.

Home in Nunda, New York
Once Again purchased and renovated a turn-of-the-century silk production facility in Nunda, New York (pop. 1,300) and converted it to nut butter production. Nunda has been our home and headquarters ever since, and Once Again is a top employer in the small community in western New York.

Rocky the Raccoon
On the original factory grounds, four baby raccoons grew up and were adopted by the family of employees. Jeremy lovingly named one Rocky, and he became the brand's mascot.
Rocky sits atop the jar as a symbol of our wholesome nature and responsibility to the earth, our products, and commitment to always doing the right thing.

Supporting Farmers
Once Again became first in the US to introduce Organic Valencia Peanut Butter, ensuring farmers' stability and fair pricing.

Real Local Change
Once Again worked with the Center for Development in Central America, known as Jubilee House, outside Managua, Nicaragua. This effort resulted in developing a sustainable organic sesame crop that today helps feed and provide medical care for over 2,000 families.

Employee Owned
Once Again became 100% employee owned. Democratically managed, all employee owners have equal voting rights and receive medical benefits, and everyone directly benefits from the company's success.

Not Everyone Loves Stirring
Introduced the first-ever "No-Stir" organic peanut butter.

Committed to Honest Food
Started our Honest in Trade program and became one of the first fair labor companies in the United States. Led by our Green Team, this initiative focuses on environmental impact, social and supply chain justice, and producing safe, quality foods for a joyful eating experience.

Non-GMO
All Once Again products were verified as Non-GMO.

Building the Future
Completed a 37,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art, employee-designed peanut butter facility.

Expanding Beyond Spreads
Introduced peanut butter and sunflower butter graham sandwiches, certified both organic and gluten free, and filled with our ethically sourced spreads.

Toasting to 50 Years
We celebrate 50 years of producing high-quality, ethically sourced nut and seed butters, plus better-for-you snacks.
