Cauliflower Tahini Tots
Our recipe today is for Cauliflower Tahini Tots. What is it about comfort food that makes us feel all warm and relaxed when we eat it? Perhaps it is the memories associated with them, or the people we usually ate them with, or just a taste of childhood? Whatever the reason, we all have our favorite comfort foods but many of us have given them up due to their often-unhealthy nature. Frequently, they are either fried or have a large portion of one ingredient abundant in saturated fat or sugar.
Our continued endeavor to swap ingredients and create new recipes that will satisfy your cravings has produced these unique cauliflower tots. Cauliflower has been turned into mashed potatoes and rice by some famous chefs and food bloggers, and so it is gaining popularity again.
Cauliflower was somewhat forgotten and overshadowed for a while by the nouveau fame of kale, spinach, and Brussel sprouts. However, its low caloric content and versatility have given cauliflower a second chance. And so, we decided to use it to our advantage in creating these guilt-free tots!
Cauliflower doesn’t have enough moisture or binding power on its own to hold together as a tot. That explains the combination of eggs and Once Again Tahini coming together in this recipe. Since cauliflower doesn’t have a distinctive flavor, it absorbs and enhances the Parmesan cheese, onion, and tahini. They are baked just until crispy around the edges, keeping the inside soft, just like traditional potato tots. You may want to pair the cauliflower tots with your favorite dipping sauces. Experiment, and have fun with the possibilities.
Here are a few tips for making this recipe. Just lightly steam the cauliflower, so it will keep its consistency a bit better once processed with other ingredients. Use a silicone mini muffin pan to yield homogenous tots that will bake evenly at the same time in the oven. Will you need to watch our step-by-step video closely to help you make these comfort-treats at home? No problem! The video below should answer all of your questions.

A fun way to spice up your cauliflower! These veggie tots are kid friendly finger food that every age can enjoy. They come together quickly and are delicious!!

Ingredients
- ½ head of cauliflower about 3 cups chopped
- ¼ cup of Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
-
2 tablespoons of Once Again Tahini
- ½ medium onion sliced
- ½ teaspoon of salt
Directions
- Place chopped cauliflower in steamer or shallow pot with ½ cup of water. Lightly steam for only 2-3 minutes.
- Now add cauliflower and all other ingredients to food processor. Blend well and place mixture in mini-muffin pan. We recommend a silicone pan without the need of a liner. If you use a standard pan, use olive oil to facilitate removal after baking.
- Place tots in an oven preheated to 375 degrees Fahrenheit for about 30 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden. These are best enjoyed warm! They freeze well, and you’ll find that they can be stored for up to 30 days, of course, in your freezer.
